Steve Beatty was recently an invited speaker at the Murray Darling Basin Authority's forum on the invasive Eastern Mosquitofish (Gambusia holbrooki) in Melbourne. The forum brought together a wide range of researchers, managers and community stakeholders to share experiences and identify areas of future research and potential control measures.  Steve presented (with co-author Dave Morgan) the W.A. perspective on the history of its introduction and spread, its severe impacts on natural ecosystems, and the very limited successful control projects that have occurred in the West.
